Thirty days shooting only at f/8

A self-imposed constraint that changed how I see composition and patience.

For all of February I locked my aperture at f/8 and didn’t touch it. No shallow depth of field to hide behind. No creamy bokeh to make a boring frame interesting.

Just f/8. Sharp corners. Everything in focus. Nowhere to hide.

What I learned

When you can’t separate subject from background with depth of field, you have to do it with composition. With light. With timing. With where you stand.

It was frustrating for the first week. By the third week, I was seeing frames I’d never noticed before.

Constraints don’t limit creativity. They redirect it.
